PRE-OPENING EXPENSES
Franchise Fee $30,000 $30,000 This is the initial franchise fee payable to the Franchisor.
Management Labour $0 $3,000 The cost of training is included in the Initial Fee, however, the Franchisee may be required to pay wages of its management staff during the period in which training takes place. The low estimate represents the situation where the franchise business is owner operated and accordingly where no such wages are to be paid. The high estimate represents a situation where the Franchisee is required to pay a third party manager wages for a maximum of two weeks.
Training and Travel Expenses $2,000 $3,000 The cost of training is included in the Initial Fee, however, the Franchisee is responsible for costs associated with training, including but not limited to transportation, lodging and food, if any such costs are incurred. The Franchisee may be required to travel to a location specified by the Franchisor, which may be Kelowna, British Columbia, to participate in training. This estimate is dependent on the Franchisee's proximity to the specified training location and the mode of transportation required.
Business Licenses and Permits $100 $500 Municipal, provincial and federal government agencies typically charge fees in connection with certain required licences and permits. The actual cost of obtaining licences and permits may vary based on the requirements of the applicable government agencies.
Operations, Utilities and Insurance $500 $1,000 The Franchisee may be required to register new account(s) with certain utility providers such as electric, telephone, gas and water services. The Franchisee may be required to pay deposits (costs may vary) in connection with these services. The Franchisee must purchase the type and amount of insurance specified by Tail Blazers, in addition to any other insurance that may be required by any applicable law or third party. This estimate assumes that the Franchisee will make payments in respect of its insurance policy on a monthly basis.
MARKETING
Opening Events $3,000 $5,000 The Franchisee is required to advertise and run promotional programs in connection with its grand opening during the period starting 30 days before and ending 90 days after the store opens. The Franchisee would be responsible for all costs associated with such an event, if any such costs are in fact incurred.
OPERATING CAPITAL
Inventory $55,000 $90,000 The Franchisee must begin operations with a certain level of opening inventory. This estimate is dependent on the size of the location and anticipated initial sales volumes.
Working Capital $20,000 $20,000 The Franchisor recommends that the Franchisee have a minimum amount of capital available to cover various operating expenses as additional funds will be required to finance operations until a positive cash flow is produced, however, Tail Blazers cannot guarantee that the amount of capital recommended will be sufficient. In certain circumstances, additional capital may be required. This estimate is dependent on various factors, including but not limited to whether the Franchisee will utilize one or more POS systems.
MISCELLANEOUS FINANCING
Professional Services $2,000 $5,000 The Franchisee will require professional services to establish the franchise, which services may include legal, accounting, and/or consulting services. This estimate is dependent on which services are utilized, their rates and the extent to which the services are required.
Loan Set Up Fee $500 $1,000 The Franchisee may require a loan in order to establish and operate the franchise business. This estimate is highly dependent on the type of financing a Franchisee may require and the fees and interest rates associated.
Rent Deposits $7,000 $10,000 Rent costs will vary based upon, amongst other things, the square footage of the Franchised Location leased, the cost per square foot, and required maintenance costs. This estimate assumes that the Franchisee will have to pay the first and last month’s rent and a security deposit equal to one month’s rent at the execution of the lease. Any amounts that the Franchisee actually pays under such a lease are typically non-refundable; however, in certain circumstances the security deposit may be refundable.
